O Come, O Come Emmanuel on BD

Hi all!

Been forever since I've posted in ED. Thought I'd throw this video out there to prove I'm still alive and kicking LOL. The bowed dulcimer that I'm playing is an Octave Violin model with sympathetic strings to enhance the sound quality made by the wonderful Mr. Ken Bloom of Pilot Mountain, NC. I have gone from only using it on a few songs when I play out to almost exclusively using it instead of the HD or guitar. While the quality of the video isn't the greatest, as it was recorded by an IPhone, I hope that you enjoy!

Hi Jim,

That was great. Your bowing technique has really improved. It makes me smile to see how far you've come on your bowed dulcimer journey! Hope we see you in April.

Thanks so much, all! Its great to still be alive and kicking. Getting right much playing time on the BD lately with both the acoustic rock group and the gospel group. Yes - I am incorporating the BD into some Beatles, Stones, CCR, CSN and other tunes with a group, as well as playing my 12 string. I'm not playing any HD as one of my old friends who took it up when I did is also throwing in with us and adding penny whistle and HD. Kind of a neat combination doing acoustic rock - bass, mandolin, a couple of guitars, BD, HD, penny whistle.

Ken B. - hopefully it will work out this year to where I can get over there Friday night, and for the concert Saturday. Is there a group planning on getting together on Thursday night.

Hi Jim,

Seems we always have some eager beavers who show up on Thursday so plan on coming over to the hotel on Thursday night if you want to play some. It will be good to see you!

I'll do my best to go looking for those eager beavers on Thursday evening. Best I can remember getting there around 7 or 7:30 was about when everyone started kind of migrating to the common room from their dinners or rest.

That's about right. I usually float over there around 8:00. See you then if not before.
