McSpadden Price

Postby LukeInCA » Sat Jul 15, 2017 5:58 pm

Hi all,

I'm a new player and was recently offered the opportunity to buy a McSpadden dulcimer from a colleague's grandmother, who bought one but never played it. What would be a fair price for a mint condition 2004 "Standard" cherry (with laminate back) McSpadden dulcimer (model FH12CC)?

Thank you!

I'd say 200 dollars, maybe more (up to 250) if it truly is mint, and has its original case.

You see people asking way more than that on eBay, like 300-400, but those people are not being realistic in my opinion. Since you can get a brand new one with warranty for a bit over 500, and they are all solid wood now. The eBay sellers seem to attach some sort of monetary premium if the dulcimer is signed by one of the McSpaddens. That is utter nonsense.

I would never pay more than 250 for a McSpadden of that era, and it really should be truly mint at that.
