Let's Try the New Live Chat TONIGHT

Postby Stephen Seifert » Mon Aug 24, 2009 7:59 pm

I just installed a new live chat system for Everything Dulcimer. Want to help me test it out? How about:

Tonight, Monday, August 24, 2009 at 9PM Eastern Standard

To use it, you'll have to be a registered user and logged in. (This is different from your forum account. If you haven't already, you'll need to register at http://everythingdulcimer.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=64&Itemid=50. Click CREATE AN ACCOUNT on the right side.)

To get to the chat from the homepage, go to COMMUNITY, then LIVE CHAT. You can also get there by clicking http://everythingdulcimer.com/index.php?option=com_jpfchat&Itemid=67.

See you there!

It took me a while to get my registration confirmation back to my email, but once I did, I had no problem entering and participating in the chat. Seems to work well.

I was out at a political meeting last night but certainly willing to try chat once. I'll try anything once. Well, almost anything :D

I couldn't stay for the chat, but the system worked fine the first time out for me, and I never was able to get on with the old one.

I wasn't able, however, to figure out how the leave the chat. I'm sure it showed me as gone when I closed the browser session, but there's probably an easier way!

I found the quit/join button, it's the icon on the left in the little control panel just below the space where you type, just over the big B for Bold. And it works!

So it does! I saw all that and figured it was part of the text formatting and smilies. Thanks!

Just wondering if there is a way to add audio to the chat room. Like on PalTalk, we don't do the webcam just mic's. Would be nice to play our dulcimer jam here instead of there.

Stephen We missed you at the Swannanoah gathering this year. Hope you will be back next year.
Do you play any of the mini dulcimers. I have gotten a mini dulcimer from Laurel Mountain--beautiful instrument. It is tuned DAAD. Some of the comments on Everything dulcimer indicate these soprano dulcimers are best played in the key of G. Also do you have any suggestions about what strings work best on these small dulcimers? Thanks Luther B
