Have lots of questions. Never heard of and 8-string dulcimer, what is the tuning. What year was it made? Are you the original owner? What woods is it made of? It doesn't look like any other Pete Belcher dulcimer that I have seen, what assurance do you have that it was made by Pete Belcher of West Virginia? Would like more pictures. I would really like to have a dulcimer made by Pete Belcher.

The label on the dulcimer is dated 6/14/76 and numbered 102. It has a printed label inside from Pete Belcher. The original owner was a Baltimore old time musician, teacher, and friend, Ron Penix. He past away last spring. I have a number of his instruments, but I only plan on keeping the instruments I play. This dulcimer and the Rick Fogle hammered dulcimer are beautiful instruments that won't get the attention they deserve if I hang on to them.
I am not great at determining wood types but if I had to guess it is made from walnut. A friend that plays dulcimer suggested the most common tunings would be D-a-d-d or D-a-a-a. But these can also be modified to your preferences.
Thanks for the interest.
