The Osprey is built around a standard 15/14 hammered dulcimer format with added courses at the top and bottom to make the instrument fully chromatic. Figured Rosewood was book-matched for the sides and end rails.

Built in 1985, it has been rarely played and is excellent condition. The sound is exceptionally rich, full and even across the entire range and it holds a tuning very well.

Range: D to eee' - just over 3 octaves, fully chromatic
17 treble courses
16 bass courses
2 strings per course

Sides, rails and bridges: Indian Rosewood
Top and bottom: Mahogany
Pin blocks: Multi-laminate maple piano pin block
Tuning and hitch pins: Nickle-plated harpsichord pins
Bridge position markers: Ivory
Bridge caps: Delrin and Brass
Sound hole: Ivory, Rosewood and Brass inlay
Finish: Hand-rubbed Danish oil
Strings: Steel music wire and custom-wound Phosphor Bronze

Included: Custom-made Main Street Case, stand, hammers and tuning wrench.
