Hi Barnaby,

Your putting together this Skype jam is great. I am curious, as the sound quality seems to vary so much, how my sound came across. Is there some best microphone setup? I am using the built-in mike on a Mac.

There is a mic built in to my old eMac but it would be farther away from the dulcimer than the headset, even if I thought it was good enough. I just bought a usb dongle on eBay that may enable me to use my old mic and speaker set. we shall see in a couple weeks when it gets here from Hong Kong.

Andreas - yours was possibly one of the clearest sounds, apart from maybe cliff (apart from the occasional dose of virtual helium ) I too am using a build in Mac mic (macbook), and it works really well for video conferencing and non-serious recording. I suspect the 'best' mic setup would be some exceedingly expensive, pop shielded condenser mike with all sorts of gidgety gazmos. But I could hear most people fine.
