I live and play in Erick, OK , the hometown of Roger Miller. He was right. I still cannot roller skate in a buffalo herd.

One of my favorite songs of all time! Thanks, Norm, for reminding me of it. Roger Miller was right about the hook of that song, too: you can be happy if you've a mind to.

I live in San Francisco and currently only play my HD in my living room -- I've only been at it a week, and I'm not quite ready to subject the public to my hammerings! :D

Tucson Arizona has three lap dulcimer groups because of far stretches to drive. But about 30 of us gathered yesterday to take classes from Bing Futch plus a terrific show. The show was followed by jamming and instruments included dulcimers, jazz piano, fiddle, drums etc. In early February Steven Seifert will be performing with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra - the debut of a specially commissioned piece written for dulcimer.

Norm, Thanks for mentioning this. "Dang Me" but I'd never heard "You Can't Roller Skate In A Buffalo Herd". What a hoot. A fun song. Just YouTubed it.

I plan on being in Tucson for this! Sure enjoyed meeting some of the Tucson area dulcimer players this summer at Dulcimerville and Ky Music Week. We'll get together and jam next time I'm out there!

Way down South, y'all ;) (Atlanta, GA)

Newbie hammerer, just finished building my own 16/15 from scratch, and in the beginning tuning stage, learning where all the notes are, just tapping away and listening to the harmonics. Can't wait to try it at church :) Now to find a group close by...

I am part of the 10% from the north east. I am from down jersey below the Pine Barrens East of the Delaware river and west of the Jersey Shore.
Play the mountain dulcimer for personal enjoyment.

Well, I used to be in the Southern sector, but I just moved from FL to Northern Illinois. I don't know a soul up here. Anyone in the DeKalb area?

Welcome to Illinois. Don't know any players out in your direction. You're about 97 miles or so from me driving as I live to the south of Chicago by a bit. Again welcome to corn country.

Thanks! I apparently missed a Gebhardt Woods festival by 2 weeks. Hopefully next year...

And my word, there is a lot of corn here. ;)
