McCafferty's Musical Instruments still in business?

Postby Zira » Tue Jun 24, 2008 2:30 pm

Does anyone know if McCafferty's Musical Instruments in Brookshire, Texas still exits? The web site is up but was never finished, and I cannot find any other info on them.

Thanks!

Terry is still building dulcimers, but he doesn't build full time. He makes a really nice instrument and is a good guy, too.

Terry is an engineer and away from home a lot. I think he enjoys building dulcimers and pickin’ stick but I think time is an issue. He had a couple of mountain dulcimers for sale at the Palestine Old Time Music and Dulcimer Festival which was in March. But I don’t think that he will have the time to keep up with the demand.

It is like getting a Wayne Henderson guitar. You have to be at the right place at the right time. http://www.waynehenderson.org/Wayne/AboutWayne.htm

Note: Lloyd and Hollis both have Henderson mandolins. Lloyd bought his second hand and Wayne made the one for Hollis.

And – Terry says that he is going to make me another pickin’ stick. Gillian Welch says that she waited something like seven years for a Henderson guitar. I hope I don’t have to wait that long for a McCafferty pickin’ stick.

I tried contacting him at the e-mail address on the web site & got no response. Do any of you guys have a current address you can share? If so, PM it to me. Thanks.

I realize this is an old post, but to reply...
Terry McCafferty was at Old Palestine Festival March 25, 2017 with several Beautiful Mountain Dulcimers for sale as well as capo's and I believe at least one pickin' stick. I just checked the website, and as noted, found no information. He was busy at the festival, visiting, and stringing instruments.

Terry was also at the Lagniappe Fete 2 weeks before Old Pal (3/10-11/2017). He also came last year (2016). His newer dulcimers are very nice. He has always built beautiful instruments. He has refined his designs and his dulcimers are better than ever. Sorry, but I don't have his contact information handy.
