Mountain Dulcimer Contests?

Postby N9GSU » Thu Aug 24, 2017 12:43 pm

Hi, Friends!

I'm looking for Mountain Dulcimer contest, preferably in the Midwest/Great Lakes states. I'm aware of the one in Coshocton, Ohio coming next June. Any others in the general area I should be aware of?

In the past, I've see a couple of fiddle/banjo contest that had an "other instrument" category, but not seeing much of that any more.

Any help is much appreciated!

Your criteria indicates Midwest, so I'll suggest the Walnut Valley Festival, which is coming soon.

Thank you, Dave! I must admit, I'm a little bit intimidated at the thought of making Walnut Valley my first ever contest, but...maybe, sometimes, you just gotta swing big or go home :)

Hi, Rick! You might consider the great festival at Mountain View, AR held in April every year. It's really a fun one, and at least the last time we went it was still a pretty low-pressure contest. Of course, if you win it then the pressure really is on!

Thank you, Steve! I've not been there in MANY years...maybe it's time for me to make a trek back down that way :) 73 de N9GSU
