Hammered Dulcimer music

Postby songchaser » Sat Feb 10, 2018 7:24 pm

I see a lot of wonderful tab for the mountain dulcimer, which is great, but as a beginner in the hammered dulcimer,I wonder why there is not a similar section for hammered dulcimer music. I know there are books available but certainly there are many players here who could share non copyrighted music. How about such a section?

Actually, since both instruments are based on D major tuning, you can take any beginner MD book and just follow the piano score. I get a lot of my HD material that way. Bear in mind though that you still need a beginner's HD book to teach you the fundamentals of playing your instrument.

I would think it's because there is no standard 'tab' for Hammered dulcimer, and most play from standard music notation, with is not that hard to find in other places unlike dulcimer Tab. Many of the tabs also have standard music notation on them, so you can play from that, and add your own ornamentation if desired.
