Dulcimer #3 Chromatic

Postby johnstoneb » Fri May 19, 2017 12:05 pm

Dulcimer #3 I made this for my SIL also. He explained what diatonic was to me so I decided I would build him a chromatic dulcimer also. He could learn to play both types then.
This one has cherry front, back and peghead with fiddleback maple sides and a padauk fret board. I finished with several coats of clear shellac. The cherry I noticed as I was finishing it had a little birdseye in it.

That's a pretty dulcimer. The "Scales of Justice" sound holes are unique- for a lawyer or judge?

Pretty -- but I'm hard core -- it has too many frets to be a called a dulcimer.
