NEW TAB FOR MAY

Postby dulcidame » Sun Apr 30, 2017 8:11 pm

This months tune is "The Ashtree Grove" not to be confused with the Welsh song "Ashgrove"
The tune is written to use the 1+ fret to form the C chord. If you don't have a 1+ fret you can play the C chord using the 6th fret.

The ash tree is sacred in celtic mythology. It is also known as the rowan or quicken tree and may have been used in May Day (Beltaine) rites. Along with the oak and thorn tree, the ash is part of a magical trilogy in fairy lore. (Wikipedia) In Sharyn McCrumbs novel "The Songcatcher" the "Rowan Stave" is the featured ballad in the book. On Samhain Eve the magical stave is used to prevent a spirit from returning to her grave.

Enjoy!
