Dan
I found an obituary and a fund raiser activity.

I also do a lot of family tree searching (genealogy) at familysearch.org, so I found these urls for Harmie.

https://www.familysearch.org/search/record/results?count=20&query=%2Bsurname%3AGriffie~%20%2Bdeath_place%3AKentucky%20%2Bdeath_year%3A2017-2017~

His brother Leslie (a.k.a. Shorty) passed in July this year.

I didn't find anything in the Letcher County newspaper (themountaineagle.com) except for a brief obituary.
