Nancy, Remo is a manufacturer of drum heads and banjo heads. So in answer to your question, a Remo is a plastic banjo head or drum head. Many builders of banjo-dulcimers use one of the smaller (6") drum heads on their banjo-dulcimers. Banjo heads are manufactured in a multitude of sizes to fit older banjos that were not always a standard size. Standardization wasn't a requirement when the banjo head was made from an animal skin.
