Description

They've got all the notes and we love them. Join up and make an introduction! (When we say chromatic mountain dulcimer, we mean they have all the frets. When we say chromatic hammered, we mean linear chromatic, piano dulcimer, or something similar.)

Hello! I am new to this site. I have been playing mountain dulcimer almost four years. I am now very interested in chromatic mountain dulcimers. Can anyone tell me about them, how to get them, and all that good stuff?

Ok, you have gotten me intersted. I am thinking on a chromatic McSpadden Baritone. Any comments about that?

dtmd,
I have all the frets still learning what to do with them. Wish there was some dulcimer tab for chromatic dulcimers. It might help me to better understand how to play.

I have a chromatic dulcimer. It has six strings which I have tuned to Open D. What a monster to learn to play! Thanks for starting this group. I am sure I will need help in the near future.

Hey Steve, It's nice to be part of your chromatic group! Thanks. I've got my Magowan, Chromatic, Baritone-dulci with me here down under. Played it by the pond yesterday and recorded myself a bit. I've had it more than a year, but I still find it difficult to get my tunes up to speed and still hear each note clearly -- you know, no buzzy sounds or wrong notes because of misplaced fingers -- but it IS getting easier....even when I don't pick up my chromatic for a few weeks, each time I pick it up, my eyes and fingers seem to find their way a little easier in each try. Anyway....thank you for creating this group. I look forward to noteworthy chit chat!
