You are invited to join the Morgan County Dulcimer Association; a non-profit organization established in April 2000 for the enjoyment and fellowship of people interested in playing, building, and/or listening to the mountain dulcimer.

Association dues are $5.00 per year per family to cover the cost of our monthly newsletter and other miscellaneous expenses. We meet the 2nd Saturday of each month at the Priceville United Methodist Church, 318 highway 67 south across from Priceville middle/high school , with bowed psaltery and autoharp practice at 1:00, lessons at 3:00 p.m. for those interested and a short business meeting at 4:00 p.m. with jamming and group play afterwards.

Please join the "Fretted Friends" at our next meetings-- if you play an instrument (guitar, autoharp, flute, hammered dulcimer, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, etc.) or if you are just interested in making new friends and enjoying music and would like to join us, you are welcome to attend.

By-laws

The association is established for the enjoyment and fellowship of people interested in playing, building, and/or listening to the mountain dulcimer.

1. The association shall be a non-profit, non-public organization.

2. As a non-profit, non-public organization not receiving outside funding, only dues paying members shall have the right to vote on resolutions.

3. All suggestions, resolutions, or amendments to the association rules brought forth by dues paying members will be considered and voted on by the members. A simple majority by those present and voting will designate approval.

4. The association shall elect a President, Vice President and Treasurer for one-year terms, beginning the first meeting of June of each year.

5. The dues shall be $5.00 per year, individual or family, due the first meeting in June of each year to cover the cost of the association newsletter and any other association expenses.  

6.  Membership shall be considered current if dues have been paid.

7. The dulcimer is to be the primary instrument in jam sessions and performances; other instruments will be welcome as accompaniment with the agreement of association members.

Our Clubs Events

In May, the MCDA usually sponsors a May Dulci-fest at Point Mallard Camp Ground, Decatur, Alabama. Jamming and fellowship at the Point Mallard Camp Ground, Decatur, Alabama. The club will try to schedule an open stage opportunity in the Decatur area.

In October, the  MCDA usually sponsors the Bea Morrow Memorial Camp & Jam, a casual camp and jam held at Point Mallard Camp Ground, Decatur, Alabama. This is a wonderful weekend for fellowship sharing and teaching new tunes and of course -jamming!
