Karen Alley  -  Hammered dulcimer

Karen Alley

I teach all levels of hammered dulcimer players. For any level, my students and I focus on learning how to arrange the tunes they want to play, with work on specific techniques and practice exercises thrown in. I believe that there are many "right" ways to play the hammered dulcimer, and my goal is to find out what works for a given student to help them make their playing more musical and more enjoyable.

Where I teach: In my home: for those living out of state, I offer 5-day "B&B" lessons in my home that include meals and lodging (this is a one-person-at-a time deal, and I will teach anything you want/need), and private lessons via Skype, which works incredibly well! I only teach in a student's home when I'm on the road and nearby.

When I teach: Any time as I am available. For Skype lessons, note that I am in Mountain Time Zone and will need to know your time zone to schedule a meeting time that works both ways.
