Lisa Oivanki  -  I hold both bachelor's and masters degrees in music education and performance from LSU. I teach mountain dulcimer, mandolin, guitar, banjo, piano, voice, trombone, trumpet, clarinet and percussion.

Lisa Oivanki

I teach in an informal, relaxed style in my studio. I believe all students can learn a musical instrument like the mountain dulcimer. My goal is for the student to have success at the first lesson and have fun while he/she is doing it. If the music is not fun, then why do it? I try not to take myself too seriously and I hope the student will do the same.

Teaching information

Where I teach: My studio, Chrysalis, is located in my home in Watson, just north of Denham Springs, LA. However, I also can teach a 1-day intensive lesson to get a student started. For such lessons, it is a 2 to 3 hour session. I can teach a student individually or, to save cost can teach up to 4 at one time. Rates are reasonable and I will travel to most locations in Southeast Louisiana that are within a 2-hour drive. I am also available for club workshops and festivals.

When I teach: My studio is fairly busy. Call or e-mail me for your exact needs. For 1-day intensives, I am only available on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month, with the exception of December.
