Heidi Muller  -  mountain dulcimer, guitar, harmony singing and songwriting; classes in Pacific Northwest and nationwide.

Heidi Muller

I have played guitar since I was a child, and dulcimer for over 25 years. I taught dulcimer in Seattle from 1986-2000. I’ve given lessons in dulcimer, guitar and songwriting for children and adults in West Virginia, Oregon, and many places in between. I now live in Enterprise, OR where I give lessons, and teach classes and workshops in northeast Oregon and across the Pacific Northwest. I welcome all levels of players, from age 6 to seniors. My style is to teach both by ear and using music handouts covering old-time fiddle tunes, songs, waltzes, hymns and beautiful slower melodies. I teach techniques from strumming to fingerpicking, always coaching folks on how to play more smoothly. I also teach intermediate and advanced classes in 4-equidistant string playing.

As a touring performer, I’ve taught at many festivals and camps nationwide, including Kentucky Music Week, Augusta Spring Dulcimer Week, Northeast Dulcimer Symposium, Ohio Valley Gathering, Yellowbanks Dulcimer Festival, Dulcimer Chautauqua on the Wabash, Harmony Harvest, Great American Dulcimer Convention, Gebhardt Woods Dulcimer Festival and Pocono Winterfest. I have published tablature books including Waltzes for the Mountain Dulcimer, Waltz Book II, and two Bill Staines song collections, So Sang the River and Spirit Song. My waltz, Leaving the Methow, appears on the Masters of the Mountain Dulcimer Vol. II CD. I’m also the coordinator of Dulcimer Week in the Wallowas, a week-long adult dulcimer camp in northeast Oregon. Besides being busy with dulcimer activities, I tour widely as a singer-songwriter with multi-instrumentalist Bob Webb, and have seven CDs of my own music.
