Melody Farrand 1
I have been using my nails for finger picking, but they catch sometimes. Have any of you tried slip on finger picks?
Skip 1
I use my bare fingers/thumb, no nails, for both fingerpicking, [multiple notes] and ''flatpicking' [single notes/strums]. The sound is softer and smoother. I use fingerpicks or a plectrum [guitar style pick] occasionally when I wand loud, but the sound is harsh to me, especially since I play resonator dulcimer most of the time. dholeton 20
I tried a thumb pick and finger picks years ago when I was first learning to play dulcimer. I got them to fit but I didn't work with them long enough to determine if they were beneficial. Dave

NoterMan 14
The only one I've ever used is the Herco Thumb-Flat Pick.
