dholeton
Well done Everyone. I can't tell you how many times I have had a lot of fun teaching this song with beginners at the club meetings. In one session and after they had learned the tune, I passed out little pieces of paper and challenged them to write their own lyrics for a verse. It took 3 to 5 minutes for them to write their verse. Then, we started the song and each of us sang our verse, sang the Boil Dem verse, then played an instrumental verse, then go to the next person. I think they had so much fun after we completed the first round, we may have sung again. Maybe they felt they could improve on their lyrics the second time. I think we spent a full hour on the song and it was probably the most fun I've had with a beginner session. Dave
Carla Maxwell
That's great, Dave! What a great idea, quickly writing new Boil Them Cabbage Down lyrics and singing them together in your jam. That covers SO many skills and sounds like a lot of fun! I love it! Admin
I've only ever heard it as a very basic version with everyone playing the same part on dulcimers. This is a great version of the song, especially with someone singing and different instruments. Great job!
